Mitch Dowd Green

The technology behind our Green fibers

Mitch Dowd is one step closer to producing carbon neutral underwear by purchasing carbon offsets from Origin.

Not only are the organic fibres comfortable, soft and luxurious; greenhouse gas emissions from production to final delivery have been measured and reported. And the energy used has been carbon offset, all thanks to Origin's verified projects.

Working with the Carbon Reduction Institute, who have conducted an extensive lifecycle analysis of the production supply chain, Mitch Dowd has purchased carbon offsets through Origin to offset the emissions created during the production and transportation process.

All products in the Mitch Dowd Green range are made from only the highest quality organic materials using Oekotec certified manufacturing techniques.

Minimizing all dyeing, finishing, dyestuffs and auxiliaries across the Green range, Mitch Dowd has additionally prohibited the use of formaldehyde, heavy metals, and any harmful or hazardous substances in the processing of the materials; meeting the strict requirements of the Global Organic Textiles Standard.

Organic Cotton

As a company, Mitch Dowd wanted to do its bit in tackling climate change. After extensive research on eco-friendly fabrications, we developed the innovative Green range.

We have replaced standard cotton with Organic Cotton. This fabric minimises environmental damage because the cotton is grown in organic agricultural systems. Organic agriculture prohibits the use of toxic chemical pesticides and fertilizers. It also seeks to build biologically diverse systems that replenish and maintain soil fertility and promote a healthy environment.

Bamboo

We have replaced polyester, a man-man cellulose fibre, with Bamboo. This minimises environmental damage by replacing a petro-chemical based product with a naturally occurring material.

Bamboo fibre is produced from the raw material of Bamboo pulp. It grows abundantly, degrades naturally in the soil, and is less harmful to the environment than the production of man-made fibres. Bamboo is a sustainable resource which is produced without the use of pesticides, herbicides, and other chemicals.

Bamboo fabric's natural antibacterial and hypoallergenic properties make it perfect for clothes which fit close to your body such as underwear, and best of all it is luxuriously soft and comfortable.
