Mitch Dowd
Founder
Mitch founded the business in 1987 after selling his original boxer short designs to boutiques along Chapel Street. After humble beginnings, Mitch built the brand alongside his brother Jason, to become the well known and popular brand it is today.
After selling the business to the ANZ in 2005, Mitch has been able to concentrate his efforts on his much loved art, under the name Mitch McAulley.
Mitch lives on an environmentally sustainable rural property in central Victoria. His rammed earth house is solar powered and utilizes state of the art recycling and water salvage techniques.
Dane Totham
Dane Totham began his position as CEO at Mitch Dowd in May 2009. A retail buyer by trade and a graduate of RMIT and Mt Eliza Business School, Dane has held various roles in the underwear and sock industries and is a 25 year veteran of these categories.
Dane is a committee member of RMIT's Program Advisory Committee for the Bachelor of Applied Science for Fashion Textiles and Merchandising.
Dane established the Young Essentials Program (YEP) with RMIT which was voted by the Deans of Australian universities as the winner of the 2000 Business and Higher Education Round Table Award (BHERT) for outstanding achievement in collaboration with education and industry.
Ken Roberts
Financial Controller
Ken has been with Mitch Dowd for 7 years as our Financial Controller. Prior to this he was Financial Controller at Puma Australia after commencing his career at KPMG Peat Marwick. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
Ken is married with two daughters and enjoys spending time with his family, getting outdoors and all sport.
Denys Walkerden
Logistics & IT Manager
Denys has worked in the Apparel industry for over 30 years. In this time he has held the roles of Shipping Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager and recently Logistics and IT Manager. It is in this role at Mitch Dowd that Denys manages the distribution, shipping and IT needs for the company.
His vast experience in these roles ensures that Mitch Dowd stays on top of all new technology and ideas.
In his spare time Denys enjoys AFL, movies and music. He is also a computer nerd who loves to upgrade PC's!
Rebecca Coomes
National Retail & Marketing Manager
After living in London for several years, Rebecca was drawn back to our golden shores with the promise of a summer which lasts longer than 2 weeks!
Rebecca is an avid traveller and has been to many distant places, with some of her favorites including Paris, skiing in the Alps, Dahab in Egypt and Koh Phi Phi in Thailand.
Having made her mark on High Street retail in the UK she joined the team in 2008 to manage the retail and marketing functions and has thoroughly enjoyed immersing herself in all things Mitch Dowd!
Dora Bakesatas
Product Manager - Women's and Kids
Dora joined the team at Mitch Dowd at 2009 and is Business Manager of Kids and Women's wear. Dora studied a bachelor of business at La Trobe University, majoring in Marketing, and then went on to complete her Masters in Marketing at Victoria University.
Dora has worked in the industry for over 10 year has a wealth of experience in women's and kids. She has previously held positions working for TMI, Pacific Brands and Bardot.
Ian Rose
In July 2009, Ian Rose joined the business as Sales and Product Executive, Department Stores Socks to expand our operations into socks.
Ian brings 36 years sock and hosiery experience to the business and is part of the family that founded Red Robin. Among his achievements, was the introduction of Bonds socks into the Australian Marketplace.
Ryan Wilson
Designer
Ryan studied Contemporary Arts, majoring in Visual Arts at Deakin University. He commenced work at Mitch Dowd as the graphic designer for Menswear shortly afterwards.
In his spare time, he is an avid sportsman, participating in both cricket and football. He is also a keen artist and has exhibited his personal artwork.
Ella Versteege
Designer
Ella studied Graphic Design at RMIT followed by Fine Arts at Monash University, majoring in Printmaking. Before joining the team at Mitch Dowd Ella explored her creative side in different design roles, from Photographic Technician to assorted freelance design work, before eventually settling into apparel. She is currently our Senior Designer/Graphic Designer in Womenswear.
Outside of work Ella loves art, music, yoga and travel. She has also held her own solo exhibition of prints and drawings.
Natalie Stratos
Designer
Natalie has been working in the fashion industry for 17 years and has a degree in Fashion and Merchandising at RMIT and Visual Arts New Media at Swinburne.
She has worked as both a fashion designer and graphic designer for apparel companies such as adidas, Pacific Brands, Playcorp, Westco Jeans, Rich, Zayt and Premonition.
Natalie has extensive textile print knowledge and is currently working as a Womenswear Senior Graphic Designer/ Product Developer in Womenswear.
Kevin Jose
Warehouse Manager
Where would we be without Kevin?? He is responsible for ensuring our stock comes into our warehouse without delay and is sent out to the hundreds of stores on time, which is no mean feat! Without him we'd be lost!
Kevin has been with Mitch Dowd for 8 years, joining the team originally as the Receiving and Dispatch Coordinator, before moving into his current role.
In his spare time, Kevin enjoys spending time with his kids, working around the house and playing golf and tennis.
